Working with us Join one of Scotland's most exciting law firms

Simpson & Marwick is one of Scotland’s longest standing and most trusted law firms, having opened its first office in Edinburgh in 1886.

Our long standing should not be mistaken for a staid approach to delivering legal services, in fact it is quite the contrary.

Where technology and modern working practises make it easier for our clients to work with us, we embrace them and ensure we are always at the vanguard of our profession.

Working with Simpson & Marwick

Whatever your speciality, whichever office you work in, and whatever your experience level, you will find your colleagues to be professional, welcoming, charming, kind, and team-spirited.  They will also display the other key characteristics of Simpson & Marwick team members – optimism and innovation.  We always strive for better ways to do things and we work together to deliver a better client experience.

Like many reputable law firms, Simpson & Marwick offers traineeships in many of its disciplines.  We can run the traineeships out of most of our branches.  Ambitious young law students are encouraged to get in touch and go through our application process.

The Covid19 pandemic has encouraged us to review our working practices.  We know people can operate efficiently from their homes but we also recognise the benefits of teams getting together.  So we have adopted a hybrid working model which seems to work.  Safety of colleagues is paramount but delivering a work/life balance and enjoying one’s working environment is also important.  We constantly review working policies and colleagues are involved in these reviews.

We believe in investing in our people to enable them to deliver outstanding client service. Our competitive rewards package reflects this and includes financial, wellbeing and developmental elements. We offer flexible working options, a scheme to recognise individual performance, corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, and we have a staff wellbeing forum, which allows our people to share their ideas and suggestions with our management team regularly.

Our staff wellbeing portal, More@Moray, offers colleagues access to our cycle to work scheme, an enormous number of additional financial benefits, as well as the ability to reach out and recognise members of their team for going above and beyond.

We know that people are our major asset and as such we want to help them achieve their potential.  On the job training, external courses, and completing online modules are all a part of working life at Simpson & Marwick and help is offered along the way for anyone who needs it.
