Simpson & Marwick is entering the new year with renewed momentum, announcing a series of strategic appointments designed to support the firm’s next phase of growth.

We are delighted that Ricky Nicol will move into the role of Non-Executive Chairman, bringing a huge level of experience in leadership and technology. We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Fraser as Board Adviser. Together, these appointments bring significant additional depth to the firm’s governance and leadership, combining proven experience in scaling businesses with long-standing expertise across property, technology and professional services.

Alongside these appointments, Sean Nicol will assume the role of CEO, taking responsibility for leading the business operationally and ensuring that service delivery and customer experience remains central to Simpson & Marwick’s growth strategy.

Commenting on the changes, Managing Director Rob Aberdein said they represented a deliberate and natural step in the firm’s development:

“As the business grows, clarity of responsibility becomes increasingly important. These changes are about strengthening how we lead and how we deliver. Ricky’s move into the Non-Executive Chairman role and Scott’s involvement as a board adviser give us deeper challenge and perspective, while Sean’s move into the CEO role ensures there is clear ownership of execution and service delivery and an absolute focus on our clients.

I believe our revised structure gives Simpson & Marwick a stronger balance between strategic oversight and operational leadership. It allows us to grow with discipline and pace, sharpen our focus on property services and service delivery, and continue building a business that is resilient, accountable and designed for the long term.”

"At the same time, we are sad to lose Gary Wales, who will be leaving Simpson & Marwick to take up an exciting new role with White & Co in Dubai, relocating there with his family. Gary has made a significant contribution to Simpson & Marwick, both professionally and culturally, and we are genuinely grateful for the role he has played in the business. While we will miss him, this is a fantastic opportunity for Gary and his family, and we wish him every success as he embarks on this next chapter in Dubai.”

Simpson & Marwick enters the year with a strengthened leadership structure, a clear operational focus and an unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, property-led legal services for clients across Scotland and beyond.
